๐Ÿ“– Two-Week Wait

The approximately 14-day period between ovulation and the expected period date (or pregnancy test). Often abbreviated as TWW in fertility communities.

In Detail

The TWW is notoriously anxiety-inducing for those trying to conceive. During this time, if fertilization occurred, the embryo is traveling to the uterus, implanting, and beginning to produce hCG โ€” but it's too early to test. Most home pregnancy tests are reliable from 12-14 DPO (day of expected period). Testing too early leads to false negatives. Symptom spotting is common but unreliable โ€” progesterone causes identical symptoms whether pregnant or not. The best strategy is to stay busy, avoid obsessive Googling, and test on the right day.
