๐Ÿ“– Progesterone

A hormone produced primarily by the corpus luteum after ovulation and by the placenta during pregnancy. It prepares and maintains the uterine lining for implantation.

In Detail

Progesterone rises after ovulation, thickening the endometrium and creating a hospitable environment for embryo implantation. It also causes the BBT rise that confirms ovulation. Low progesterone in the luteal phase can prevent implantation or cause early miscarriage. Progesterone supplementation (oral, vaginal, or injection) is commonly used in IVF and for women with luteal phase defects. Symptoms of progesterone include breast tenderness, bloating, mood changes, and fatigue โ€” which is why PMS and early pregnancy feel similar.
