What Is It?
Increased urination is an early pregnancy sign that can start as early as week 4. Your kidneys filter 25% more blood during pregnancy, producing more urine. As the uterus grows, it presses directly on the bladder.
Common Causes
Increased blood volume and kidney filtration, rising hCG hormone, growing uterus pressing on bladder, increased fluid intake, and hormonal changes affecting bladder sensitivity.
⚠️ When to See a Doctor
If urination is painful or burns (UTI), if you see blood in urine, if you have a fever, if urge is accompanied by lower back pain, or if you're leaking urine involuntarily.
💡 Tips & Management
Don't reduce fluid intake — stay hydrated. Lean forward when urinating to empty bladder fully. Avoid caffeine (natural diuretic). Do Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor. Plan bathroom access when going out. Limit fluids 2 hours before bed.
