What Is It?
Spotting refers to light bleeding that occurs outside your regular menstrual period. It can be pink, red, or brown and is usually much lighter than a period. While often harmless, persistent spotting should be evaluated.
Common Causes
Ovulation spotting (mid-cycle), hormonal birth control (especially in first 3 months), implantation bleeding, cervical irritation, polyps or fibroids, STIs, perimenopause, stress, or early pregnancy complications.
⚠️ When to See a Doctor
If spotting happens regularly for 3+ months, if it's accompanied by pain, if bleeding is heavy or prolonged, if you're postmenopausal, or if you could be pregnant.
💡 Tips & Management
Track all spotting episodes in Ovuloom with dates and flow amount. Note any triggers (intercourse, exercise, stress). Don't use tampons for spotting — use panty liners instead. Keep a symptom diary to share with your doctor.
